A session developing digital technologies for activity of courts and law enforcement agencies to be held at SPILF 2025

On 19 May 2025, the session ‘From Virtual to Real: How Emerging Technologies Are Changing Crime and Legal Responses’ will take place at the 13th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
The expansion of the use of modern information technologies not only helps to create convenient services for citizens, but also arms offenders. This raises issues of relevance of classical procedural forms and mechanisms of counteraction to unlawful actions.
In recent years, significant results have been achieved in introducing new digital platforms and technologies into the work of courts and law enforcement agencies. The session participants will talk about the results of this work and consider topical issues of the use of modern information technologies in criminal and administrative offence proceedings.
An important issue of the expert discussion will be new approaches to digitalization of the activities of public authorities, as well as the current state of cybercrime.
“On 7 April this year, the President of the Russian Federation signed federal laws developed by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation concerning the digitalization of proceedings on cases of administrative offences. With their adoption, the systematic work of the Ministry of Justice aimed at the comprehensive introduction of modern technologies and digital platforms into procedural legislation was completed,” said Vadim Fedorov, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, as Vadim Fedorov noted, ensuring security in a rapidly changing environment involves not just improving the work of law enforcement agencies, but also reconfiguring the entire toolkit for combating crime, including legislation.
The Forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
The 13th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum will be held in St. Petersburg from 19 to 21 May.
